Colonies exhibit a massive, hemispherical or flattened structure, often exceeding 2 meters in width. Corallites are circular and vary in size, with those on convex surfaces being larger than those on concave surfaces. The corallites are shallow, ranging from approximately 6 to 13 millimeters in diameter and feature tightly compacted septa. Columellae are sizable and small paliform lobes are typically present. The prevalent color is usually a shade of blue-grey.
