Description:
The fish has a body depth measuring 3.0–3.5 times in standard length (SL). The preopercle is serrate with 2–9 enlarged serrae at the angle, and adults have a notch above the preopercle angle. There are 17–19 rays in the pectoral fins, and the caudal fin margin is truncate to slightly convex. The lateral line consists of 49–53 scales, and lateral body scales are rough, with adults having a few small auxiliary scales.The fish is brownish to purplish grey with numerous orange-yellow spots. These spots are present on the head, body, dorsal fin, and upper third of the caudal fin.
