Description:
The filamentous structure, known as a trichome, maintains a uniform diameter throughout its length and lacks branching. Heterocysts are either interspersed within the filament or located at its base. These trichomes are covered by a nearly transparent mucous sheath, and heterocysts are positioned between the cells. The filaments can be solitary or grouped within a gel-like substance.
