The valves have an elliptic shape with convex margins and rounded apices. The axial area is narrow-lanceolate, slightly expanding from the apices to the central area, which is large and round. Longitudinal canals are present on both sides of the axial and central areas, and they are widest near the central area, gradually narrowing toward the valve apices. The raphe is straight and has expanded proximal raphe ends. Terminal raphe fissures deflect unilaterally, ending before reaching the valve margin. The striae, which are the fine lines or furrows on the valve, are radiate at the mid-valve, becoming strongly radiate towards the apices. These striae are made up of complex, round to rectangular areolae. They are arranged in a single row, and there are typically 11-14 areolae in a 10 µm span. Usually, one row of areolae is found along the longitudinal canal, although in some specimens, two rows may be present.
