Description:
The cells have elongated, needle-like edges that can be either curved or slightly S-shaped, with the central portion of the cell taking on a spindle shape. Two chloroplasts are found within these cells. It is believed that the production of slime during Cylindrotheca blooms can have detrimental effects on fisheries.
