Cyanea nozakii is characterized by a prominent, expansive bell that has a flat top and eight sizable marginal lobes. The typical color is cream or milky white to pale yellow, with a darker center and a translucent margin. Beneath the bell, there is a dense cluster of delicate mouth-arms resembling curtains, which are colored orange to reddish-brown. The rhopalar and tentacular stomach pouches are linked by several wide, transverse anastomoses, and the peripheral canals are interconnected with numerous anastomoses, forming a dense network.
