Description:
The dorsal fin originates above the midpoint of the pectoral fins. Lips have well-developed flanges. Vertical fin rays are segmented. The posterior nostril is at the level of the middle of the eye. There are two rows of teeth in the jaws with the outer row having larger teeth. The 6th infraorbital pore is situated close to and slightly above the posterior angle of the jaw. There are 36–39 preanal lateral line pores. In terms of color, it is grey to brown with a broad black border on the median fins. There is a black spot on the pectoral fins and a black bar beneath the eye. In life, dark crossbars are also present.
