The carapace of this crab is pear-shaped and relatively well-calcified. The chelipeds (claws) are short, stocky, and unequal in size. The abdomen is short, fat, and tucked under the carapace. The uropods (tail fins) are modified into a rasp that is used to cling to the interior of gastropod shells. The crab is light brown to pale brown in color, with dark brown spots all over the legs. The antennules (small antennae) and antennae are dark purple.
