The species display a flattened dorso-ventral structure and an approximately oval shape. Unlike typical comb jellies, they lack the characteristic comb rows with bands of cilia. However, at the front end of the organism, there are well-developed, retractable tentacles that can be extended for feeding. The lower side of the comb jelly forms a “creeping sole” through the everted lining of the pharynx, allowing it to move across the surface of a starfish. Marked by irregular red and white patterns, the comb jelly exhibits distinctive features.
