The scuta have a large articular ridge with a furrow above it. The rostrum and carina are of the same size and shape, with the two lateral compartments on each side being almost equal in size. The terga also feature a prominent articular ridge and a deep furrow. The radii are relatively narrow, and their corresponding furrows are generally about as wide as the radii. The basis is always membranous. There are four cirri, with the first and second pairs being very short. The segments of the organism where these cirri are located have three pairs of spines. The maxilla possesses three large spines. The coloration of the shell is gray on top and light brown near the base, with numerous narrow ribs when found in a marine environment.
