Description:
This species belongs to a genus characterized by having subterminal nostrils on the snout, a long pre-oral snout, and eyes and supraorbital ridges that are hardly elevated. There is no black hood on the head or large spot above the pectoral fins. The caudal fin has a pronounced subterminal notch but lacks a ventral lobe. The species is light brown, yellow-brown, or grey-brown above and cream below. Juveniles have 12-13 prominent saddle marks that fade with growth and are absent in adults. Dark bands in juveniles are not outlined in black. The dorsal fins are smaller than the pelvic fins and lack projecting free rear tips. Additionally, the body lacks lateral dermal ridges.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
An inshore bottom shark, on rocks and in lagoons from 5 to 80 m. Bay of Bengal.
