Shell medium, stout and heavy, broad, ovate-fusiform with a simple suture and a tall conical spire; large inflated body whorl, sculptured with varices; simple suture, protoconch smooth and depressed. Three prominent spinose axial varices per whorl, with a single broad axial node between them; body surface transversely sculptured by well- marked spiral cords. Varice’s spines thick. branched, foliate, leaf-like and close-set; about 6 in number with simple nodes in between, on the body whorl; shoulder spines long and others followed by. Last two spines of the body whorl straight. Aperture small, rounded ovate with a deep and narrow notch at the posterior end; outer lip dentate, shortly lirate interiorly; smooth inner lip. Anterior siphonal canal deep, broad and somewhat short, narrowly open. Colour: body surface brownish-black or dark chestnut-brown to black; aperture white or light pink with deep pink lips: purple-blue columella; spines almost dark brown to black.
