Description:
In simpler terms, this diatom has a spiral arrangement of hair-like structures on its surface. The cells are rectangular in shape and have a single chloroplast. Colonies of this diatom are curved and relatively long. The hair-like structures overlap at the edge of the colony and curve in the same direction. Resting spores of this diatom have spines.
