The plants have a rosy-red color and exhibit a soft, bushy growth pattern with a mix of different types of branches. The prostrate filaments produce multicellular rhizoids. The upright filaments are pseudodichotomously branched, with apices that resemble forceps or are circinate in shape. At the nodes, you can find two to three rows of cells. The lower part of the cells is larger than the upper part, and the axial cells decrease in size toward the tips. There are fewer periaxial cells, and occasionally, there is just a single row of basipetal cells. No reproductive structures have been observed, and there are only a few proliferous branches.
