Description:
Shell small, elongate-ovate with a tall spire, highly variable in shape and sculpture. Outer lip thickened, poorly developed, devoid of marginal spikes, slightly expanded at the margin, densely lirate inside. Inner lip narrow, thickened, finely lirate at both ends. Sculpture of the body whorl generally reduced, with fine spiral grooves near the anterior end and outer lip margin. Narrow with high spire of angular whorls, spirally striate and ribbed. Ribs become more or less heavy knobs on the shoulder of the dorsal side of the body whorl. Aperture moderately small and narrow, reaching or not reaching the shoulder posteriorly. Columellar callus lirate at both ends. Anterior notch not very deep but well marked. Siphonal canal short and widely arched. Highly variable color on the dorsal view, plain white, greyish, orange or brown, or with various darker bands and spots on a pale background.
