Description:
The body is elongated and moderately depressed. The preopercle spine has an antrorse orientation. All spines of the first dorsal fin bear small filamentous extensions. The last (9th) ray of the 2nd dorsal fin is the longest. The first dorsal fin has IV spines while the 2nd dorsal fin has 9 rays (with the last dorsal ray divided at its base). There are 12 soft rays in the pectoral fin, 6 in the pelvic fin and 8 in the anal fin and the lateral line is simple. The coloration includes a black 1st dorsal fin, a whitish 2nd dorsal fin with a black bar, a black anal fin with a white base and a whitish caudal fin with three black bands. The caudal fin is rounded, not elongated. There are six black blotches on the side of the body and a dark brown spot is present on the upper part of the caudal fin base.
