Description:
Shell large, solid, long, thin and light; ovately pyriform. Spire large; 5 whorls, sculptured by spiral axial nodules and cords; suture attached with the whorls and distinct. Apex pointed. Body whorl very large; shoulder flat with large prominent angulated and acute nodules; surface covered by fine lateral spiral cords. Aperture large and elongate; both lips and columella smooth; siphonal canal long, broad and deep. Operculum thick, corneous and claw-shaped. Colour: exterior fawn yellow to yellowish-red; spiral cords and nodules slightly deep brown; aperture, lips and columella are creamy. Operculum dark. Size: maximum shell length 150 mm, commonly 120 mm; average shell length, width, aperture length and width measure 109, 43, 49 and 16 mm, respectively.
