Beroe cucumis is a moderately sized, sack-shaped comb jelly. Its transparent color allows for a see-through appearance. The jelly moves through the water using eight longitudinal combs, contributing to the characteristic shimmering appearance typical of comb jellies (ctenophores). These combs are composed of transverse rows of hairs that rhythmically beat in waves downward, creating the shimmering effect. Notably, the plates of these combs exhibit phosphorescence during nighttime, adding to the visual allure of the organism.
