The cells are typically triangular when viewed from the valve, although in some cases, a rectangular outline has been noted. In the girdle view, the cells appear roughly rectangular. The cell apices are elevated, and these raised apices create a point of connection between adjacent valves. Next to each of the elevated apices, a small depression is present, forming a teardrop-shaped aperture between cells when observed from the girdle view (indicated by an arrow). Each cell possesses a single labiate process along with a tubular extension.
