Description:
D1 I/7; D2 absent; P1 I/10; P2 6; A 21. Body dark bluish above, whitish below, adipose fin with a large dark spot. Body elongate; width of the head exceeds its height, and equals its length excluding the snout; median longitudinal groove is wide between the eyes, becomes pointed both anteriorly and posteriorly; maxillary barbel reach the middle of the pectoral spine and the outer mandibular ones its base; teeth small in an arcuate band; dorsal spine strong, caudal with pointed lobes, superior one is longer.

Inhabits shallow coastal waters and enters estuaries (depth range 20-50)
