Description:
The fish has an elongated body with an arched dorsal profile, and a large head. The head shield is sparsely granulated and keeled, with a heavily granulated supraoccipital process. The snout is prominent, and the mouth gape is moderately small. Jaws contain teeth in villiform bands, with none on the palate. Three pairs of barbels are present, with maxillary barbels shorter than the head and outer mandibular barbels reaching the gill opening.
