It has a slender border with a rounded to pentagonal shape. The lower surface is nearly flat. While alive, it typically exhibits a subdued gray or dark grayish-brown color. There’s a noticeable petaloid area, and the rear petals are the shortest. All petals open towards the outer end. The areas between the pores are intricate and sunken, and the grooves running along the ambulacra stretch from the mouth to the edge of the test and up to the apical system. On both the upper and lower surfaces, there are tubercles on the ambulacra arranged in oblique rows. The tubercles on the interambulacra are larger and less dense than those on the ambulacra.
