Description:
The frustule is elliptical, measuring 50-115 micrometers in length and 25-55 micrometers in width. The valves are semi-elliptical, with a curved upper margin and a concave lower margin, and their tips are bluntly rounded. The raphe, a defining feature of diatoms, is significantly curved and positioned at a distance from the lower margin. The axial area is narrow on the upper side but irregular on the lower side, while the central area is relatively large on the lower side. Dorsal striae extend outward radially and are intersected by wavy longitudinal ribs, numbering 9-12 per 10 micrometers. Ventral striae are found on the lower side and range from 8 to 13 per 10 micrometers.
