The axial corallites are typically easy to identify. Radial corallites are arranged in a rosette pattern, often appearing in rows, and they have closely pressed, rounded openings. Tentacles are typically extended during the daytime. The coloration is usually a consistent pale cream, grey, or brown, occasionally exhibiting shades of green or purple. In some instances, the branch ends may be yellow. These colonies take the shape of corymbose plates or clusters, and the branchlets are slender, fragile, and either straight or consistently curved.
