The colonies take the form of broad, flat plates and tables, or they can be layered arrangements of small plates. The branchlets are slender and intricately patterned, except in areas exposed to strong waves, where they fuse closely together. These branchlets are delicate and project upward. The axial corallites are noticeable but not protruding. The radial corallites have a cup-like shape and come together in rosette patterns. The coloration is typically a consistent cream, brown, grey, or green, with or without blue (which might appear pink in photographs) growth along the edges.
