Colonies consist of prostrate branches, occasionally entwined, resembling bottlebrushes. The secondary branchlets are slender and consistent. There is no clear differentiation between axial and developing axial corallites. Radial corallites are typically short, tubular or pocket-shaped and may be unclear or absent. The usual coloration is cream or white with blue or purple tips on the branchlets which may appear pink to red in photographs. On occasion, the entire colony may display a blue hue.
