The primary branches frequently diverge and tend to narrow towards their tips. There are numerous sub-branches that come in varying sizes and also taper as they extend. The axial corallites have robust walls but relatively small openings, while the radial corallites are occasionally organized in rows, varying in size, with the larger ones protruding outward and having wide, square-shaped openings. These corals come in a variety of colors, with blue (which can appear pink in photographs) and cream being the most common. The axial corallites are often yellow in color.
