Description:
This species can be identified from other similar species by the following features: Dorsal fin with XII spines (occasionally 11 or 13); juveniles have a longer second anal-fin spine. In terms of coloration, the pelvic and anal fins exhibit a pale yellow to yellow hue with black streaks in the interradial membranes of anal-fin rays, while the caudal fin is grey or yellowish-grey.
