Description:
Body is elongated and strongly compressed, appearing somewhat shorter and more truncate. There are 16 pectoral fin rays, 13 caudal fin rays with the middle 8–10 rays being branched, and a total of 44–48 caudal vertebrae. The overall color is pale pink (with the lower part of the head and breast being even paler) or silvery-pinkish. There are two longitudinal rows of vertically elongate yellow spots on the sides. The iris is red and the median fins exhibit a reddish-yellow color, appearing whitish at the base. Pectoral fins are translucent with a red tint, while the pelvic fins are white.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Burrow dweller occuring on sandy or mud bottoms (depths of 10–60 m)
