Description:
This fish, with a deep and compressed body, exhibits a depth that ranges from 1.6 to 2.0 times its standard length. The hind margin of the preopercle is smooth, and both the upper and lower edges of the caudal fin base lack projecting spiniform procurrent rays. It belongs to the Abudefduf genus and is distinguished by having 13 dorsal fin spines and 13–15 (usually 14) soft rays. The anal fin possesses 2 spines and 13–14 rays, while the pectoral rays range from 16 to 20 (usually 18–19). The lateral line has 19–23 scales, and there are 22–26 gill rakers on the first gill arch. The caudal fin tips are rounded. The coloration of this species is predominantly white, adorned with 6–7 relatively thin dark bars on the head and body.
