Description:
Little and wispy. Overall, the color is dark blackish-brown, with a noticeable pale wing panel and an even-width white rump patch. When in flight, long legs that extend past the tail are hard to see unless up close. When feeding, it frequently hovers and patters its foot on the water’s surface.
