Description:
The cell body of this species is crescent-shaped, characterized by its long, curved form with tapering at both ends. When observed in cross-section, it has a rounded appearance. The cell wall can be either smooth or may feature longitudinal lines and bands in some species. Notably, the chloroplasts have laminae that are ridged and radially arranged, giving the cell a cross-sectional star-shaped appearance. Pyrenoids within the cell can be aligned or scattered, contributing to the species’ distinctive characteristics.
