Scientific Name: Lauderia annulata Gran 1915
Local/Bangla Name: Not Known
- Not Known - Lauderia annulata - Type: Phytoplankton

Photo: Robin Raine (Algae Base)

Classification:
Kingdom: Chromista
Phylum: Bacillariophyta
Class: Bacillariophyceae
Order: Thalassiosirales
Family: Lauderiaceae
Description:
The cells are cylindrical when viewed from the girdle, and they have a circular cross-section. They align to form straight, tightly connected chains that are somewhat fragile and prone to breaking into shorter chains or individual cells. The valves are weakly convex with a slight depression in the center and a circle of strutted processes around the cell’s margin. From these processes, gelatinous filaments are emitted and can be seen in water mounts.Occluded processes are also present in the marginal zone, and they play a role in connecting the adjacent cells within a chain. The chloroplasts within these cells are numerous, small, and exhibit irregular lobes.
