Phylum: Bacillariophyta
Class: Bacillariophyceae
Order: Coscinodiscales

Description:
When observed from the girdle,Coscinodiscus argus takes on a box-like shape, and its valves are notably wider than they are tall. The areolae are organized into distinct rows radiating from the center of the valve, and there is a central rosette composed of slightly larger areolae. In comparison to other Coscinodiscus species, these areolae are coarser, numbering between 2 and 4 in a 10µm span, and they are easily distinguishable under a light microscope. The size of the areolae decreases as you approach the valve’s margin. C. radiatus is a widely distributed species found in various regions.
