Classification:
Kingdom: Chromista
Phylum: Bacillariophyta
Class: Bacillariophyceae
Order: Coscinodiscales
Family: Coscinodiscaceae
Description:
The valves are slightly convex with a central depression, featuring a prominent rosette of large areolae in the center. On the valve face, the areolae are organized into narrow groups, separated by hyaline lines. These areolae create intersecting arcs in the center, resembling spiraling rows. Hyaline lines are associated with the labiate processes at the valve’s edge. A single ring of marginal labiate processes is located 3-4 areolae away from the valve margin and can be observed under light microscopy. Additionally, two larger processes spaced about 135 degrees apart are visible with the same level of magnification.
