Description:
The cells are exceptionally tiny, with their apical and pervalvar axes being roughly the same in length. Setae, which are straight and sometimes only slightly longer than the apical axis, emerge from the pole of the valve. Resting spores have not been observed in these cells, and there is likely just one chloroplast within each cell.
