Description:
Individual cells can exist independently or are connected in short chains. The apertures in these cells are narrow and divided into two sections by the elevated central area of the valve. Setae originate from the corners of the cells and extend diagonally toward the ends of the chain, crossing beyond the outer edge of the chain. The terminal setae run almost parallel to the intercalary ones and share a similar physical structure.Resting spores have been documented, and they exhibit a pear-shaped form. The valves of these resting spores are curved, featuring small spines on both sides.
