Description:
The valves take on a linear-lanceolate shape with lengthy and slender rostrate ends. They are lightly silicified, displaying bilateral symmetry and having an isopolar structure. The central region of the valve exhibits nearly parallel sides and tapers sharply towards a narrow apex. Fine fibulae are present, mainly concentrated along the valve’s margin, while they are evenly distributed through the central portion of the valve. There is no central nodule, and the process of sexual reproduction involves physiological anisogamy.
