Description:
The body of A. aurita has a gelatinous and approximately circular shape with tetramerous symmetry. The mouth, which is square or four-sided, hangs down at the center of the sub-umbrellar surface, forming four long, tapering, and delicate processes known as oral arms. The umbrella is shallow, resembling a bell or saucer. A. aurelia is transparent and reflects light rays with crystal-like clarity in the mesoglea. It has a bluish-white color, and the reddish or pinkish gonads are distinctly visible from the body surface. A. aurita undergoes two different body forms in its life cycle: the polyp stage and the medusa stage.
