The shell is large, solid, smooth, and glossy. It is somewhat inflated and has a convex base. The aperture is somewhat wide, deep, and has an expanded siphonal canal (the tube that leads to the animal’s body). Both lips (the edges of the opening) are covered with teeth, and the anterior portion (the front part) of the lips is wider than the posterior portion. The dorsum (upper surface) and sometimes the columellar side of the base (the side of the base that faces the aperture) are heavily clouded with brown or grey, showing through as profuse, indiscrete spots except for the base itself. The interior of the shell is blue-grey. The teeth are rich dark brown, and the spots on the sides are faintly ocellated (having a small, colored spot in the center)..
