Description:
Shell is small, usually smaller than that of Meretrix meretrix, usually up to 45 mm in length but often up to 60 mm in length, 40 mm height and 32 mm depth. It is thick, triangularly ovate or cordate in outline, longer than high and moderately inflated. Anterior end is evenly rounded while the posterior end is a little produced. Lunule is obsolete. Interior of the shell is white and glossy, but the pallial line is bordered by pale yellowish white and the posterior margin by bright purplish brown. Anterior adductor scar is elongately oval; posterior adductor scar is subcircular and larger than the posterior one. Hinge is thick and with three cardinal teeth.
