Classification:
Kingdom: Plantae
Phylum: Rhodophyta
Class: Florideophyceae
Order: Ceramiales
Family: Rhodomelaceae
Description:
The plants display a reddish-brown color and grow as solitary, upright structures. Their main axis branches extensively higher up, initially in a somewhat sub-dichotomous pattern, which then becomes less noticeable. They form dense, fastigiate to spreading, and soft tuft-like growths, anchored by small disc-shaped holdfasts. The tips of the plants are straight, and they have an apical cell along with trichoblasts. Lateral branches emerge near the tips, originating from the base of the trichoblasts. Typically, 3-4 pericentral cells are observable, and trichoblasts develop on each segment.
