Description:
It is densely tufted, several main brances arising from a discoid holdfast. Fronds erect, dichotomously branched, frequently towards the apices. Thallus heavily calcified, but not rigid. Medulla is straight with relatively few rhizoids from the outer medullary cells. Cortical and medullary cells had a parietal and stellate chloroplast with a central pyrenoid. Cortical and subcortical cells often elongated to form short, hyaline hairs 10-50 μm long. Plants brownish-red to pale-pink color.
