Description:
Thalli have a tangled base of creeping branches and are either fleshy or subcartilaginous. Upper branches have antler-like form, whereas axes and first order branches are flexible. The main axis is terete throughout, branching at an angle and alternating spirally every current. Sometimes, adventitious branch lets and upper ordinary branch lets are hooked or bent in irregular or abaxial directions. Longitudinal section axial cells are elongated and thin. Secondary pit connections are present in both cortical and paraxial cells, although the walls of none have thickening lenticulae. The color is reddish red or greenish-yellowish.
