The plants are anchored to the bedrock by a disc-shaped holdfast. The primary axis is quite short and robust, giving rise to multiple upright branches. The leaves associated with reproduction are extremely slender and hair-like. The size of the vesicles varies, ranging from small to very tiny, with an elliptical shape and pointed tips. The receptacles, where reproductive structures are found, are slightly arranged in clusters that resemble a racemose or cymose pattern, with three or more together at the base of the leaves. These receptacles are oblong or linear, often forked, somewhat flattened, and have serrated edges, particularly at the tip. Interestingly, both male and female reproductive organs can be found within the same receptacle.
