Plants have a lot of branches that are hollow inside, tubular, irregularly dichotomous or pseudo dichotomous, and branch widely and at an angle. The thallus has other extremely compressed sections with an irregular surface that are at least 10 cm wide. Branches get smaller and smaller until they finish in tiny, hair-like terete branches. The thallus’ transverse section has three to four layers of cells, with the innermost layer lining the hollow cavity being bigger than the outermost layer. The outermost layer has irregularly polygonal cells in surface view, and each cell has a single chromatophore. Up to 5 cm in height and width. olive or a mild to dark shade of brown
