Description:
The fish has a terminal or slightly inferior mouth and is equipped with a pair of small barbels on its chin. Both upper and lower jaws feature small and large teeth. There are five mental pores present. The second spine of the anal fin is approximately equal to the length of the peduncle. The swimbladder is carrot-shaped, with 17–19 pairs of arborescent appendages along its sides, and the first pair partly enters the head. The sagitta, a large earstone, has a tadpole-shaped impression with the “tail” sharply curved at about a right angle. The anal fin consists of 2 spines and 7 soft rays. The fish is colored grey dorsally and silvery ventrally, with a faint dark oblique line along the scale series. The spinous part of the dorsal fin is black, and the upper margin of the second part of the dorsal fin is dusky.
