Description:
The parrotfish species in question has a deep purplish to greyish-brown coloration with bright blue margins on both the dorsal and anal fins. Adult individuals feature a distinctive bulbous fleshy protuberance on their foreheads. The caudal fin displays excised rays, creating a ‘ragged’ appearance along the fin margin. The pectoral fin has a scalloped margin, and a notable characteristic is the very long second-last ray in both the dorsal and anal fins. Additionally, the species exhibits conspicuous white dental plates, which are fused teeth, and the lips cover only about one-quarter of the teeth. In smaller fish, the body scales have a dull bluish-green color with a pinkish to purplish bar on each scale.
