Description:
The species under consideration has a body depth measuring 2.8–3.2 times in standard length (SL). The membranes of the spinous dorsal fin are usually not incised or slightly incised. The preopercle is rounded and finely serrate, with the lower serrae slightly enlarged. There are 17–19 pectoral fin rays, and the caudal fin is well rounded. The lateral line consists of 53–62 scales, and lateral body scales are rough, with auxiliary scales. The head and body are dark brown or greenish-brown, marbled with irregular pale spots and blotches. There may be 1 or 2 faint dark streaks running posteriorly from the eye.
