Soft rays in the dorsal fin range from 93 to 101, while those in the anal fin range from 72 to 81. There are 45 to 47 vertebrae. The snout has a pointed tip and the length of the upper jaw is approximately equal to the diameter of the lower eye. Teeth are present on the lower jaw on the blind side. The dorsal fin originates above the posterior nostril of the blind side and the first two rays of the dorsal fin are detached from the others with none being prolonged and the pterigiophores are as long as the neural spines of the first four caudal vertebrae.
